Following the popular Santa Fe model, the Tucson is the second SUV to be developed from the ground up by Hyundai (although it is fair to say that this is Hyundai's first compact crossover to be developed in South Korea).

For the first time this compact crossover was presented at the Chicago Auto Show in February 2004. The name, in continuation of the corporate tradition, was borrowed from the South American town in Arizona.

Externally, the Hyundai Tucson crossover resembles a "reduced copy of the last generation Santa Fe" - somewhat shortened and with a greatly simplified front end (the Hyundai Tussan has a front end that is not as "embossed" as that of Santa Fe).

When the first Hyundai Tucson began to appear in Russia, many initially confused them with Santa Fe, when viewed from the front. But now the new generation Santa Fe has already begun to run on Russian streets - although this did not add originality to Tucson: as it turned out, the model was both technically and stylistically unified with the Kia Sportage II. However, the cost of Hyundai Tussan on the Russian market does not differ significantly from Sportage - this attracts many motorists.

There are two engines for the Hyundai Tussan car: an in-line two-liter 16-valve with a capacity of 142 liters. with. and a 2.7-liter V6 with 175 hp. The first one can be aggregated both with a mechanical five-speed gearbox and with a four-band "automatic" H-Matic. Whereas the V6 comes only with an automatic transmission.

In the basic configuration (which already has a lot of "useful things"), the Hyundai Tucson in 2007 is offered at a price of $ 27,990 (two-liter version with a manual transmission). For an automatic transmission, dealers will ask for an additional $ 1400. And at $ 30,990, a version with a leather interior is estimated. Prices for the 2.7-liter versions of the Hyundai Tucson start at $ 32,690, while the most sophisticated Hyundai Tucson is priced at $ 34,290.

In fact, the Hyundai Tucson is a "simplified Santa Fe of the previous generation" (by perception), but at a slightly lower price - why not?
As for the main consumer qualities, they are also at the level of Hyundai Tucson. At least: comfort, good driving performance on asphalt and decent cross-country ability on a dirt road, this car will definitely provide its owner. Although, of course, the "second Santa Fe" is a more advanced car, but it is also more expensive than even the most sophisticated Tucson.
