Second incarnation of the BMW X6

The Bavarian automaker announced the premiere of the second generation of the BMW X6 coupe crossover. The novelty was shown to the general public in October (at the Paris Motor Show), and already in December 2014, the BMW X6 appeared in dealerships.

In the second generation BMW X6 retained the recognizable "compartment" appearance, but received new bumpers, fresh optics and a redesigned radiator grill, which, with minor changes, went to the new product from the "third" X5 presented a little earlier.

In terms of dimensions, the coupe-crossover has grown a little. Now its length is 4909 mm, the width has grown to 1989 mm, and the height has been extended to 1702 mm. The wheelbase remained unchanged, as in the previous generation X6 E71, its length is 2933 mm. The maximum ground clearance also remained the same - 212 mm.

Thanks to the increased volume of aluminum, magnesium and thermoplastic in the car structure, the curb weight of the new BMW X6 has been reduced. The decrease averaged about 40 kg.

The interior of the BMW X6 has a 5-seater layout, and its design is completely "licked" from the new X5 with all the pros and cons.

We only note that the luggage compartment of the BMW X6 has added 10 liters and now holds 580 liters in standard condition and about 1525 liters with the backrests of the rear row of seats folded in a ratio of 40:20:40.

Specifications

TS At the start, the second generation model received three engine options:

  • Modification xDrive 30d equipped with a 6-cylinder in-line turbodiesel with a return of 258 hp. and a torque of 560 Nm.
  • Sport version M50d gets the same engine, but with triple turbocharging, thanks to which the power will grow to 381 hp, and the torque rises to 740 Nm.
  • Top-end petrol modification xDrive 50i equipped with an 8-cylinder V-twin turbocharged unit, 450 hp output. and a peak torque of 650 Nm - which allows the car to accelerate from 0 to 100 km / h in exactly 4.8 seconds.

In subsequent years, the line of engines of the second generation BMW X6 was replenished with a gasoline 6-cylinder in-line engine with a capacity of 306 hp. (torque 400 Nm) for the xDrive 35i modification. And then the xDrive 40d modification, equipped with an in-line 6-cylinder turbodiesel with a return of 313 hp, entered the market. and a torque of 650 Nm.

As a gearbox, all engines are supplied with an uncontested 8-speed "automatic" ZF.

Design features

The second generation BMW X6 is built on the same platform as the X5 (F15) and received a similar suspension. At the front, the novelty relies on an independent double wishbone suspension, and the rear part of the body is supported by the proprietary Integral V multi-link system. As an option (standard for top-end versions), a rear air suspension with self-leveling trim is available. In addition, there is the possibility of optional installation of adaptive shock absorbers and active anti-roll bars.

In Russia, the "second" BMW X6 is offered only in an all-wheel drive version, based on a multi-plate clutch in the front wheel drive. If desired, all-wheel drive can be supplemented with an electronically controlled rear differential with variable thrust vector, which redistributes traction between the wheels for more stable cornering at high speeds.

Options and prices

Already in the base, the BMW X6 of the second generation is equipped with 19-inch light-alloy wheels with safe Runflat tires and "locks", Start / Stop function, bi-xenon optics, fog lights, LED taillights, electric tailgate, dynamic cruise control, electromechanical power steering, 2 -zone climate control, parking sensors, extended security package (including satellite anti-theft system Professional), heated front seats and leather interior.

The price for the BMW X6 2015 model year for the Russian market starts at 3 million 508 thousand rubles for the "xDrive 30d". The older "brothers" - gasoline "xDrive 50i" and diesel "M50d" are offered at prices from 4 million 214 thousand and 4 million 642 thousand rubles, respectively.
