Renault Sandero is a front-wheel drive five-door hatchback of a subcompact category ("B-segment" according to European requirements), which combines attractive design, practical interior and modern technical "stuffing" (and all this - for a reasonable price) ... Its main target audience is urban residents (regardless of gender, age and marital status) who need an inexpensive but balanced car ...

The world premiere of the second generation hatch took place in September 2012 - at the international motor show in Paris (but then only under the Dacia brand), but he "put on" the Renault nameplate only in June 2014 (and a month later he debuted in the Russian specifications - at the "Moscow auto show").

After the "change of generations" the five-door was radically transformed in terms of design, "armed" with modernized technology and received modern functionality.

In July 2018, a restyled "Sandero" of the second generation reached Russia (although it appeared in the countries of the Old World in the fall of 2016), however, the improvements were limited to "little blood" - the car was slightly tweaked in appearance (and only in the front part), made insignificant changes to the salon and added several new options.

Outside, the "second" Renault Sandero attracts attention with a nice, harmonious and modern look - perhaps, it does not have bright design solutions, but at the same time there are no contradictory details here.

At the front, the hatchback demonstrates neat headlights with C-shaped LED "blotches" of DRLs, a stylish radiator grill and a firmly knocked down bumper, and at the back it boasts a neat trunk lid, elegant lanterns and a "blown" bumper.

In profile, the hatchback looks dynamic and proportional - a sloping windshield line, embossed "protrusions" of wheel arches, expressive sides, a thick rear roof pillar and short overhangs.

The overall length of "Sandero" of the second incarnation extends to 4070 mm, of which 2589 mm is the distance between the pairs of wheels, and its width and height are 1733 mm and 1523 mm, respectively.

The ground clearance of the five-door is 155 mm (under load), and its "combat" weight ranges from 1100 to 1151 kg (depending on the version).

Interior

Inside, the second-generation Renault Sandero has an attractive and modern design (although the feeling of budget here does not leave for a second), well-thought-out ergonomics and a solid level of performance.

The “pilot's” workplace is crowned with a three-spoke multi-rudder with developed tides in the correct grip zone and a laconic, but very clear “toolkit” with a pair of dial gauges and a monochrome display of the onboard computer in the right “well”.

The center console looks restrained in a European way, but it is quite interesting for itself - it contains a 7-inch screen of a multimedia complex, an asymmetric air conditioning unit and several buttons that control minor functions.

The hatchback salon is able to accommodate five adults, but the middle rider in the second row is traditionally interfered with by the floor tunnel.

At the front, well-profiled chairs with distinct lateral support, solid adjustment ranges and heating are used, and at the back there is a three-seater sofa with an overly flat folding.

In the normal state, the "Sandero" trunk shows the correct shape and can "absorb" up to 320 liters of luggage. The second row of seats is folded in two unequal sections (in the ratio "60:40"), which allows to increase the volume up to 1200 liters (only an even "rookery" in this case does not work). In the underground niche there is a full-fledged spare wheel and tools.

Specifications

Renault Sandero of the second generation is equipped with exclusively atmospheric gasoline "fours" with a working volume of 1.6 liters, meeting the Euro-5 economy standards, with an in-line architecture, electronically controlled multi-point "power supply" and a variable valve timing system:

  • The basic version is a motor with an 8-valve timing, the performance of which is 82 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 134 Nm of rotational potential at 2800 rpm.
  • More "capable" modifications are equipped with a 16-valve unit that generates 102 hp. at 5750 rpm and 145 Nm of torque at 3750 rpm.
  • "Top version" contains under its hood "16-valve", which produces 113 hp. at 5500 rpm and 152 Nm of available thrust at 4000 rpm.

Together with 82 and 113 hp engines. a 5-speed "manual" gearbox and a front-wheel drive transmission are working, but a 102-strong "atmospheric" is combined with a 4-band "automatic".

Dynamics, speed and consumption

The first "hundred" obeys the hatchback after 10.7 ~ 13.9 seconds, and its "maximum speed" rests at 163 ~ 177 km / h.

For every 100 km of run, the car consumes from 6.6 to 8.6 liters of fuel in mixed mode (it all depends on the modification).

Design features

"Sandero" of the second generation is based on the front-wheel drive platform "M0", which is distinguished by a transversely placed power plant and the wide use of high-strength steel in the structure of the monocoque body.

The front axle of the machine is suspended by means of an independent spring suspension of the MacPherson type, and the rear axle is suspended by a semi-independent architecture with a rolling cross member and hydraulic shock absorbers (“in a circle” - with transverse stabilizers).

The rack and pinion steering mechanism of the hatchback is nominally supplemented with a hydraulic power steering.

At the front, the five-door wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, and at the rear - with drum devices (starting with the starting configuration - with ABS).

Options and prices

In Russia, the second-generation restyled Renault Sandero can be purchased in three versions - Access, Life and Drive.
