Opel Corsa is a front-wheel drive five-door hatchback of a subcompact class (aka "B-segment" by European standards), which combines stylish design, modern technical components and good "driving" potential ... The main target audience of the car is young and energetic people (regardless of gender), living, as a rule, in large cities that are aware of all fashion trends ...

For the first time, the Opel Corsa of the sixth generation with the in-plant letter "F", equipped with traditional gasoline and diesel engines, was presented on June 26, 2019 during an online presentation, and a few months later its full-fledged premiere took place at the International Frankfurt Motor Show.

Compared to its predecessor, this hatchback, completely developed under the auspices of the PSA concern, has changed dramatically - it "moved" to the modular CMP platform, along the way, slightly enlarging in size and dropping more than a centner of extra pounds, became more attractive externally and internally, lost a three-door body, " armed "exclusively with turbocharged engines and received a huge number of electronic" bells and whistles ".

Exterior

Outside, the "sixth" Opel Corsa has a nice, proportional, modern and moderately aggressive look, in which you cannot find contradictory solutions.

The assertive front of the five-door is decorated with menacingly frowned headlights with inverted LED running light ticks, a stylish "hexagon" of the radiator grille with a honeycomb structure and a sculpted bumper, and its lean rear is crowned with a raised trunk lid, graceful lights and a "curly" bumper.

In profile, the hatchback boasts a balanced and energetic silhouette with expressive "folds" on the sidewalls, a "floating" roof with smoothly sloping outlines, a powerful C-pillar and regular strokes of the wheel arches.

Among other things, the car is available in a "sporty" version of the GS Line, which features more aggressive bumpers, a large spoiler on the edge of the fifth door, a flaunting "double-barrel" exhaust system and 17-inch wheels of the original design.

Dimensions and weight

"Corsa" of the sixth generation is a typical representative of the B-class by European standards: the car is 4060 mm long, of which 2538 mm is the distance between the front and rear wheelsets, the width does not exceed 1960 mm (excluding the side mirrors - 1765 mm) , and is 1433 mm high.

In the equipped form, the hatchback weighs from 1055 to 1233 kg, and its gross weight varies from 1550 to 1660 kg, depending on the modification.

Interior

Inside, the Opel Corsa 2020 model year meets its inhabitants with an attractive and modern, but very laconic design, which lacks "flashy" solutions - a multifunctional three-spoke steering wheel with a "puffy" rim and tides in the area of the correct grip, a virtual instrument cluster, a stylish center console, topped with asymmetric ventilation deflectors, a 10-inch (in the "base" - 7-inch) screen of the media center and an extremely understandable block of "microclimate".

Well, the GS Line version "flaunts" a steering wheel rim truncated in the lower part, metal pedals and contrasting inserts.

According to the passport, the hatchback salon is five-seater. In its front part there are ergonomic chairs with pronounced sidewalls, moderately dense filling, sufficient adjustment ranges and heating. Passengers in the second row are entitled to a hospitably profiled sofa and a normal supply of free space in all directions.

In the arsenal of "Korsa" of the 6th incarnation, there is a well-thought-out luggage compartment, the volume of which in normal condition amounts to 309 liters. "Galery" is divided into two sections in the ratio "60:40", and as a result of folding it more than doubles the cargo capacity of the "hold".

Specifications

A wide range of power units is offered for the "sixth" Opel Corsa:

  • By default, the hatchback is equipped with a 1.2-liter three-cylinder gasoline "aspirated" inline configuration, direct injection, 12-valve timing and variable valve timing system, generating 75 horsepower at 5750 rpm and 118 Nm of torque at 2750 rpm.
  • The more powerful petrol versions have the same turbocharged unit, available in two boost levels:
    • 100 h.p. at 5500 rpm and 205 Nm of peak thrust at 1750 rpm;

The "weakest" engine is combined exclusively with a 5-speed "mechanics" and a front-wheel drive transmission, a 100-strong "troika" and a turbo diesel normally relies on a 6-speed "manual" gearbox, but an 8-band "automatic" is installed in conjunction only with gasoline turbo engines.

Speed and flow

From one place to the first "hundred" five-door accelerates after 8.7-13.2 seconds, and gains maximum 174-208 km / h, depending on the modification.

Gasoline versions "digest" from 4.1 to 6.2 liters of fuel for every 100 km of run in combined mode, and diesel versions - from 3.2 to 4.5 liters.

Design features

The sixth generation Opel Corsa is based on a compact modular platform CMP (Common Modular Platform) with a transverse engine arrangement, a wide use of high-strength grades of steel in the supporting structure of the body and an aluminum hood.

An independent MacPherson-type suspension is installed on the front axle of the car, and a semi-independent system with a torsion beam (in both cases with simple springs and anti-roll bars) is installed on the rear axle.

The hatchback's rack and pinion steering is fitted as standard with an electric power steering. At the front, the five-door wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes, and at the rear - drum devices or conventional discs, depending on the version.
