The Audi e-tron is a full-size all-wheel drive premium SUV with an all-electric powertrain, which is primarily aimed at wealthy people who keep up with the times and value the car's driving characteristics, but at the same time pay close attention to the environment ...

For the first time, this electric crossover appeared before an international audience, as a concept car, in the fall of 2015 - at the stands of the "four rings" in Frankfurt. This "German", designed to impose competition on the Tesla Model X, received an avant-garde design, a "space" interior, three electric motors and a capacious lithium-ion battery (providing over half a thousand kilometers).

Commercial production of the five-door began on September 3, 2018 at the facilities of the brand's Belgian plant in Brussels, but in all its glory, the serial electric SUV made its debut only a few days later (to be more precise, on September 17) at a special event in San Francisco.

On the way to the conveyor, the "German" did not lose its visual impact, but it simplified a little in technical terms - two electric motors were separated for it and the "range" was reduced to 400 km.

The Audi e-tron quattro looks beautiful, sporty, daring and impressive - at first glance, its aggressive appearance, "seasoned" with an unpainted plastic entourage along the lower edge of the body, does not fit in any way with the electric "stuffing".

The full-face crossover demonstrates a piercing gaze of lighting technology with "branches" of running lights, a monumental "octahedron" of the radiator grill, a sculpted bumper, and from the rear it boasts spectacular lamps on organic LEDs and massive "hips".

And the car looks stunning in profile - its powerful and squat silhouette attracts attention with huge "cutouts" of the wheel arches, the developed relief of the sidewalls and the sloping outlines of the roof.

In terms of dimensions, the e-tron quattro occupies a niche between the Q5 and Q7 off-road vehicles: the five-door is 4901 mm long, of which the wheelbase extends to 2928 mm, and 1935 mm and 1616 mm in width and height, respectively.

In the normal state, the ground clearance of the electric crossover is 172 mm, but thanks to the air suspension it varies in the range of 76 mm: outside the roads, the body can rise by 50 mm, and when driving at speeds above 120 km / h, it drops by 26 mm.

When equipped, the car weighs 2,400 kg, and is capable of pulling trailers weighing up to 1,814 kg.

Interior

The interior of the electric crossover impresses with its "space" design - the riders inside the "German" are immersed in augmented reality, which is formed by the dashboard screen, the central touchscreen monitor of the MMI infotainment system and a separate display responsible for the "microclimate".

The progressive minimalism of the current Audi “suites” in the e-tron quattro is taken to a new level, and even the embossed multi-steering wheel with a flattened rim on the underside fits perfectly into the overall picture.

According to the passport, the decoration of the car has a five-seater layout, and in fact, the second row of seats can accommodate three adult passengers without any problems. In the front part of the cabin, there are ergonomic seats with pronounced sidewalls, unobtrusive lumbar support rollers, moderately dense filling and a wide range of electrical adjustments.

With practicality, the Audi e-tron is in complete order: in the stowed state, the trunk of an SUV can accommodate 600 liters of luggage. The backrest of the rear sofa is folded flush with the floor in three sections in the ratio "40:20:40", due to which the capacity of the "hold" is increased to 1700 liters. There is an additional niche under the raised floor for small items.

Specifications

For the Audi e-tron, a single modification is offered - 55 quattro, which is driven by two asynchronous three-phase electric motors (one at the front and rear axles), generating a total of 360 horsepower (265 kW) and 561 Nm of torque.
In overboost mode, they are capable of delivering 408 hp. (300 kW) and 660 Nm of rotational potential, but such indicators cannot hold for more than one minute.

By default, the electric crossover is supplied with a lithium-ion battery (liquid-cooled) with a capacity of 95 kW * h, which provides it with a "range" of 400 km on a single charge.

From a place to the first "hundred" the car accelerates after 5.8 seconds, and the maximum is capable of gaining 200 km / h.

When using the 11 kW base charger, it takes 8.5 hours to fully saturate the batteries from a regular outlet, but with the optional 22 kW charger, this is reduced by 4 hours. Well, replenishment of electricity reserves by 80% using fast charging stations takes only half an hour.

Design features

At the heart of the electrocrossover is a modular MLB Evo "trolley" with the widest use of aluminum in the "skeleton" and an independent running system "in a circle": the SUV demonstrates a two-link system in front, and a multi-link system in the back. In addition, the car sports adaptive air suspension, which automatically adjusts the amount of ground clearance depending on driving conditions, a fully steerable chassis and intelligent drive control technology that distributes thrust between three engines.

The electric crossover boasts a steering with progressive characteristics of the electric booster and ventilated discs on all wheels, complemented by a mass of modern "goodies".

Options and prices

On the Russian market, the Audi e-tron is offered in four versions - Base, Advance, Sport and Design.

For the basic crossover, you will have to pay at least 5,780,000 rubles, and the list of its options includes: six airbags, dual-zone climate control, full LED optics, air suspension, 19-inch alloy wheels, virtual instrument cluster, electric fifth door, media center with a 10.1-inch screen, premium audio system with ten speakers, front and rear parking sensors, ABS, ESP, lane keep assist and more.

A car in the Advance version costs from 6,135,000 rubles, the Sport version will cost from 6,525,000 rubles, and the Design version will not be cheaper than 6,595,000 rubles.

In the first case, the five-door can additionally boast of an electric drive and heated front seats, keyless entry to the salon, a rear-view camera, door closers, a heated steering wheel and an "autonomous air conditioning system", in the second - an S line package, matrix headlights, a Bang & Olufsen audio system and 20 -inch wheels, and in the third - also a different decor and leather interior (everything else - as in the Sport modification).
