Peugeot 3008 is a front-wheel drive compact crossover with a "premium" look (at least, they want to believe it in the French company itself), capable of boasting a bold design, a good level of practicality and really driving "driving" potential. This SUV is addressed primarily to active and charismatic city dwellers who keep up with the times, for whom “how the car looks and drives” is important, but they are not ready to sacrifice “everyday functionality” ...

On May 23, 2016, the French automotive brand Peugeot held a preliminary presentation of the 2nd generation "3008" SUV, the public debut of which took place in the same autumn - within the framework of the international auto show in Paris.

Compared to its predecessor, this car has fundamentally changed its image - it not only became much more "crossover" in appearance, but also received: a new platform, a wide range of power plants and a large selection of advanced systems.

In September 2020, during an online presentation, a restyled crossover was presented, the main new things of which were concentrated on the face - the front end was completely redrawn, adjusting it to the current corporate style of the brand. From other angles, the changes turned out to be much less significant, but in technical terms they are not at all, however, at the same time, the car received minor changes to the interior and new options.

Externally, the second generation Peugeot 3008 makes an extremely positive impression - its appearance "screams" about its originality and is replete with bold stylistic decisions. The car was a success from all sides - a daring front end with a pronounced hood and piercing gaze of "fanged" headlights, lean sidewalls with dynamic outlines and a sporty downed stern with spectacular lanterns and a massive bumper.

In addition, the GT equipment is provided for the SUV, which adds a number of special effects to its appearance - slightly widened wheel arches, 18-inch wheels of the original design and an abundance of chrome elements and stainless steel inserts.

Size and weight

In terms of its dimensions, the "3008" belongs to the compact off-road vehicle camp: 4447 mm in length, 1620 mm in height and 1841 mm in width. The car has a 2675 mm wheelbase, and its "travel" ground clearance is 219 mm.

The curb weight of the five-door varies from 1465 to 1540 kg, depending on the version.

Interior

Inside, the “second” Peugeot 3008 looks even more spectacular than outside, and all thanks to the “i-Cockpit” concept, which gives the decoration a catchy and deliberately sporty look.

The interior of the SUV is truly cosmic - a compact steering wheel cut from the top and bottom, a spectacular dashboard (in the "top" versions, it is completely virtual with a 12.3-inch display) and an 8-inch screen that rises above the center console, managing a large number of functions, which is accompanied by everything six physical toggle keys.

In the cabin of the "3008" there are five full-fledged seats with ergonomic front seats, "flaunting" a well-developed profile and a wide variety of adjustments, and a well-shaped rear sofa with a sufficient supply of necessary living space.

The volume of the cargo compartment of the second incarnation of the Peugeot 3008 is a very solid 520 liters in standard form, and with the backrests of the second row of seats compared to the floor, this figure more than triples - to 1580 liters.

Specifications

In the Russian market, the second-generation restyled SUV is offered with two engines to choose from:

  • The first option is a 1.6-liter THP petrol four with a turbocharger, 16 valves, direct injection and variable valve timing, producing 150 stallions at 6000 rpm and 240 Nm of torque at 1400 rpm. It works jointly with a 6-band “automatic”, as a result of which the car accelerates to the first “hundred” after 8.9 seconds, maximum gains 206 km / h and “digests” no more than 6 liters of fuel in mixed mode.
  • The second is a four-cylinder 2.0-liter BlueHDi diesel engine with a common rail direct "feed" system, turbocharging and a 16-valve timing, which produces 150 "horses" at 4000 rpm and 370 Nm of peak thrust at 2000 rpm, and is combined only with 6-speed "mechanics". From standstill to 100 km / h, the SUV rushes in 9.6 seconds, reaching 200 km / h, and consumes 4.8 liters in the combined cycle.

The Peugeot 3008 is available exclusively with drive wheels on the front axle, but the lack of all-wheel drive off-road is partly compensated for by the traction control technology called "Advance Grip Control", which has five modes of operation ("Normal", "Mud", "Snow", "Sand "And" ESP Off ").

Design features

The car is based on a front-wheel drive modular chassis EMP2 (Efficient Modular Platform 2) with an independent McPherson-type chassis in front and a semi-independent layout with a torsion beam at the rear.

The body structure of the car combines high-strength types of steel, the fifth door and trunk are made using thermoplastic, and the rear seat frame, suspension arms and fenders are cast from aluminum.

By default, the off-road vehicle relies on disc mechanisms of the brake complex on all wheels (ventilated in the front) with ABS and EBD, as well as a rack and pinion steering system with adaptive electric power assistance and a variable gear ratio.
