Used car reliability rating TUV Report 2016

At the beginning of November 2015, the German "Union of Technical Control and Supervision" (TUV) presented to the public the next rating "TUV 2016", reflecting the degree of reliability of used cars over two years old. Traditionally, initially, the "public rating" is available in the "TOP10-LAST10" format and by 2016 its full version has been published.

Within its framework, experts from Germany examined the technical condition of about 9 million cars in five age groups (in total, 223 popular models were included in the report), after which they revealed the percentage of "iron horses" that "failed" the first time due to the presence of technical problems.

In the age class 2-3 years unconditional leadership was captured by Mercedes-Benz cars, which occupied the entire "podium". In the first place was the B-class hatchback, whose owners only in 2.8% of cases needed to contact service centers to eliminate technical faults, followed by the GLK crossover and SLK roadster with results of 2.9% and 3.1%, respectively. The worst are the Chevrolet Spark (14.6%), Fiat 500 (14.1%) and Fiat Punto (13.3%).

In the age segment 4-5 years The Audi A1 performed best at 5.7%, ahead of the BMW Z4 by 0.3% and the Audi Q5 by 0.4% in second and third places respectively. But the obvious outsider here turned out to be Dacia Logan, which could not pass the inspection in 28.1% of cases. Fiat Panda and Dacia Sandero performed slightly better - 23.3% and 22.8%, respectively.

"Palm" in the category 6-7 years old went to the Porsche 911, which has only 8.9% of the "marriage". The Toyota Prius slightly yielded to him in reliability with a result of 9.6%, and the third place was occupied by Volkswagen Golf Plus, which in 10.3% of cases was forced to visit car services. At the same time, you will not envy the owners of Chevrolet Matiz, Dacia Logan and Renault Kangoo, whose cars gained 34.6%, 32.9% and 31.4%, respectively.

In the age class 8-9 years old the Porsche 911 again took the lead, with only 11.7% of cases having technical problems. The Toyota Prius is 1.4% behind, and the Mazda MX-5 is 3.4% behind. The most unreliable cars were Renault Kangoo and Kia Sorento, with 35.1% of defects each, and Renault Twingo with 34.6%.

Leading position in the segment 10-11 years old once again took a Porsche 911, which only in 13.9% of cases caused problems to its owners. "Silver" went to Toyota Corolla Verso with the result of 17.5%, but Toyota RAV4 had to be content with "bronze" - 18.7%. At the opposite end of the rating, Fiat Stilo, Mercedes-Benz M-class and Ford Galaxy were registered - 44.0%, 43.7% and 41.8%, respectively.

The report "TUV 2016" is very valuable for Russian motorists, because within its framework the Germans work with cars in the European specification, which are usually (with minimal or no changes) implemented in our country.
